My wife just received this email from a lady she works with:
Dear All
I have a favour to ask you all.
My little boy attends Trench Tots Nursery and they have been asked to collect plastic screw top lids, this is for a local girl aged 7 who has been diagnosed with cancer and she needs treatment in America. A local Charity has agreed to pay for the trip if she can collect 1 Million lids. Local Schools and Shops are also collecting and I thought that I would ask you all to do the same, I will put a box on my desk for collecting.
Many thanks
If any of my readers would be able to help this little girl out please send your lids to the nursery:

Via Dale I came across this great alternative to rechargable batteries. I don’t go many places nowadays without my mac or laptop (sad I know) so when my battery goes flat in my iRiver I could just give it a quick charge.
What was very interesting on this website was the media they have made available for people to use in their blog postings!
The biggest problem I had at SETT was having no business cards to give out, so last night I spent some time looking for business card websites - and there are far too many! My favourite is Street Cards, especially the gaping void cartoons - that were on the Stormhoek poster we received at Teachmeet.
This morning I checked my rss feeds and came across a link on Ewan’s del.icio.us account to Moo, a mini card site that can print your own Flickr photos onto your cards. At the moment they are giving away a pack of 10 cards to the first 10,000 Flickr Pro users.
When I booked my train ticket to SETT back in August it was only about £5 more to travel first class, so I thought why not.
On my way up to Glasgow I was pleasantly surprised by the hospitality on the Virgin train, when I boarded the train I was offered a drink (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and choice of a bacon or sausage sandwich – what a great start to the trip. After I changed trains to finish my journey I was served with fresh sandwiches, fruit, flapjacks and again more drink. Throughout the rest of the journey the train staff moved through the carriage refreshing my drink and generally being very pleasant and helpful, even bringing a warm facecloth. The train was a Pendolino.
The journey back, however, was a different story – it was a direct train to Crewe. This time I was on a Virgin ‘Voyager’ train. On leaving Glasgow we were informed that we could go and collect a snack box from the on-board shop, according to the brochure on my table the snack box might contain ‘a roll filled with brie & grape or chicken & bacon, Penne State sour cream & chive pretzels, Lily O’Brien’s Chocolati Chocolate & mixed fresh fruit’, you can imagine my disappointed when I opened it to find 2 Tuc cheese sandwiches, a snack sized kitkat, a slice of fruit cake, a bag of dried mixed fruit and a carton of orange juice ☹ There was no complimentary alcoholic drinks only hot and soft cold drink.
How can the services be so different?
I still haven’t been able to get a gmail account, so if anyone has any spare invites left I would really like one (beg, plead)
If you have can you get in touch either by comment or email.
Cheers
UPDATE: Thanks to Mark Kuchel I now have a Gmail account ![]()

My Flickr experience increased today, while setting up my new tablet pc I was installing the Flickr uploaded and saw a link to Shozu. Shozu is an application for your mobile phone that allows you to upload directly from the phone to your Flickr account. The software doesn’t work on all phones, but I was happy to see it works on my Sony Ericsson W800i.
After downloading the software onto my phone and fiddling with the settings, following very detailed instructions on the website, I took a photo of Dale and sent it. It worked a treat as you can see from the photo.
Today I started to show my age, some might say I have being doing that for a while now :(, or maybe not my age but maybe my ‘digital immigrant(ness)’. I received an email from Logitech about claiming 10 free SkypeOut minutes - I filled in the online form and a couple of minutes later a voucher appeared in my inbox.
I thought this was painless enough and it was nice to get something for free, so I sent an email out to people I knew that were using Skype, this was my email:
I just got an email from Logitech with a link here: http://www.vclogitech.com/SkypeOffer.aspx?src=InvUKEN2 if you follow the link you can get 10 free SkypeOut minutes.
Several minutes later I had a reply from Ewan McIntosh thanking me and saying that he would pass it on to folk he knew. While reading through my bloglines feeds I saw one from Ewan - Free SkypeOut minutes, rather than sending an email he had just posted it to his blog. Now why didn’t I think of that? - answers on a postcode, or via the comments below.
I have just come across this cool website, the website details how to take your usb drive and personalise it. I think I might have a go and making the duck one for my wife. If anyone customises their stick can you post a link to it here.
