Web 2.0 for mathematicians

19 03 2007

Hi all, this coming Friday I am speaking to members of NAMA (National Association of Mathematics Advisors) about the joys of flickr, podcasting, wikis, del.icio.us and blogs.  I would be grateful if anyone could send me some good examples of the use of these technologies in mathematics, I have the excellent maths in motion podcasts and some student blogs that focus on maths but anything would be good.

Cheers

* Maths in Las Vegas - http://maps.google.com/maps?q=http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/download.php?Number=197706&t=k&om=1
* Take photo of teacher (or pupils) diagrams, upload to Flickr, use Flickr tool to turn into jigsaw. In pairs, reconstruct diagram/equation etc
* Maths blogs at http://www.scotedublogs.org.uk/blogs?new_filter=true - click on Maths’ tag
* Invite your audience to think of search criteria (or tags) for searching the millions of videos on YouTube for good Maths content.

All the best for Friday!
