Apple tablet pc

28 11 2006

At last weeks Apple RTC event as I was chatting with several mac users saying that I missed my tablet pc and when are Apple going to bring out a tablet pc with Mac OS.  Looks like my wishes might be granted ‘Apple tablet PC rumour reappears‘.

Talkman

23 11 2006

max.jpgTalkman is a microphone and software application for the PSP, it allows you to speak into your PSP and translate simple phrases into 6 different languages.

It would be interesting to see if/how this could be used in the MFL classroom, Ewan & Joe??

Kinesthetic Interactice Teaching System

23 11 2006

Russell is on a roll, his latest demonstration was ‘KIT - Kinesthetic Interactive Teaching System‘ was really inspiring - he had 30 members of the audience playing a mulitplayer game with him.  The system costs £3000 but has a great amount of flexibility, you can use the games that come with the system or create, better still get your pupils to create, games for it.  The system can also play music - so no need to hire a dj for the school disco again, it also can be used as a karaoke system :)

I would really like to get hold of one of these systems.

Mixman M2 Digital Music Mixer

23 11 2006

Russell Prue has just demonstrated the ‘Mixman M2 Digital Music Mixer‘ to an audience at the Derbyshire ICT conference, this is one of the coolest gadgets I have seen lately.  I would really like one, never mind letting the kids get their hands on it!  The only downside for me at the moment is that it doesn’t work on the Mac, I will have to dig my tablet pc out.

Gabcast

23 11 2006

I have just gate crashed David’s workshop on Creativity, the focus of his workshop is podcasting.  He used Garageband to produce a very small podcast and uploaded it to the Digital Teacher Network - a free blog that makes uploading and hosting podcasts very easy.

He then went on to demonstrate Gabcast, this is a site that allows you to produce a podcast via voip or mobile phone.  At present the basic service is free, apart from the cost of your phone call.

Derbyshire

23 11 2006

Today I am in Derbyshire at their ICT Conference, I have a keynote this afternoon on Web2.0 technologies in the classroom. The day was kicked off by David Baugh (Denbighshire LA) an interesting keynote on Digital Creative Learning Environments, not VLEs or LPs, but creating an creative learning environment in school. It was great to see the creative work on many primary school pupils from Denbighshire. One of the key points that sticks in my mind is that youngsters are doing all this creative ’stuff’ at home but not at school, why not and how do we recreate a youngsters bedroom (minus the clothes etc) in school?

Blog Rules

21 11 2006

I am sure there are several hundreds, if not thousands of these on the web at present.  While at Oldbury Wells last week the students in 8RAC discussed what they thought should be rules for writing to a blog - I have put these rules into a wiki, feel free to edit and add rationale to each rule.

Flash Earth

10 11 2006

I posted a link to FlashEarth on my del.icio.us account a couple of days ago, thinking I would write a post about it when I got some spare time.  Ewan has already posted about it, so just check out what he has to say.
